That means at level 4 (2 extra Politicians compared to Merchant Guilds) you are producing 3.5 jobs worth of unity. Looking at the traditional Politician job, the unity output is ~1.75 that of the corresponding unity production job which requires a building slot to create. The extra Merchant jobs are basically overkill and only produce extra energy/CGs that you wind up turning into other resources through the market. This also allows the use of the Militarist economic policy providing a free +25% alloys income. Even to the point that you can generate enough extra CGs to enable either Utopian or Academic living standards without issues. Even without the additional Merchants from your capital building, it is very easy to eliminate all Artisan and Technician jobs from your empire with the Consumer Goods tradition/trade policy. Without it, the trade-off is very expensive. Access to the Mercantile Diplomatic stanceīefore the removal of the ancillary unity production from all Merchants that Merchant Guilds provided, the unity trade-off would have been eliminated.Trade 8-10 unity production for 24-30 trade value production. ![]()
